Knit-n-Crochet: Trunk Show and Socks!

We have some exciting happenings going on this month. First, we are excited to have a trunk show by Alexandra's Crafts through October 17th. Come in and see all the beautiful colors, including many new to us. We have all the colors of Black Butte, Dark SIde of the Moon, Bling Bling Sisters, and the newest yarn, Sun River.

We also have Alexandra's October Special featuring the Breast Cancer Awareness colorways with several great pattern ideas.

Secondly, we are again featuring a Customer Favorite Contest. We have about a dozen socks knit by our customers. Come on in and vote for your favorite sock. The Customer's choice will receive a prize.

The inaugural LYS Day will take place on April 21 and is designed to show support for small businesses while bringing together a unique community of knitters, crocheters, weavers and spinners to drive awareness and celebrate the craft.

August Newsletter

It is not too late to join us for this month's crochet club. We are joining with Skacel and crocheting their CAL, the "Ripple as You Go" scarf or shawl using beautiful Zauberball Starke 6. It is exciting to see the work progress as the colors change. This is project comes with weekly installments through the month of August.

Our Mystery Knit club this month features the Basic Tank. We are knitting this sleeveless vest/tank using Queensland Uluru. This yarn is available in solid colors as well as stripes. This tank is perfect for over a long sleeved shirt, or under a jacket. This is a simple project that anyone can make, including beginning knitters.

All our Jordanna Paige knitting bags are on sale for 30% off. Limited to stock on hand.

We also have all our Ella Rae Classic Worsted Weight Wool on sale for 40% off. We need to move this yarn to make room for new stock. Limited to stock on hand.

Our Mystery Knit Club this month is the Chevron Mittens shown above. We have chosen Arroyo by Malabrigo. These mittens are perfect for crisp winter days.

Our Mystery Crochet club is kicking off for the first time with a lovely Trellised Cowl. We have chosen 2 colors of Juniper Moon Farms Herriot. This cowl is a lovely addition to your winter wardrobe.

December newsletter & Holiday Hours

Merry Christmas from all of us here at Knit-n-Crochet.

We have several new events that will begin in the new year. We will reveal a few here, but there will be more coming soon.

First we are joining with the National WWII Museum’s Knit Your Bit National Service Project. We have set aside Wednesday afternoons from 2-4 pm to get together and knit or crochet scarves for Veterans. We will be donating them locally but reporting to the Museum to be included with the national record keeping.

We are also beginning a Crochet Club on Tuesday afternoons from 1-3 pm. We will select a monthly project to work on together. The Club is set up to improve your skills, try different projects, yarns, and techniques. If your supplies are purchased here, the club is free. Otherwise there will be a $5.00 fee each week.

Finally, we are pleased to share the Art Yarns trunk show with you through mid-January. Come on in and check out the beautiful samples. Many require only one skein!

Join us this month for our Mystery Knit Club KAL on Friday afternoons from 1-3 pm. We will be knitting the Tulli Cowl with one skein of Pitturissimo and one skein of Trenzar.

Knit-n-Crochet: October Mystery Knit Club and More!

The October Mystery Knit Club project features a beautiful crescent shaped shawl. You will learn how to knit holding two lace weight yarns together. Once skein of Findley Dappled is enough 2 shawls. So pick your main variegated color and then pick a second color. You can share the variegated yarn with a friend or make 2 yourself. The samples in the picture share the variegated yarn in color then a different complimentary color was chosen to complete each creating 2 different looks. We can't wait to see all the color combinations and possibilities!

New Classes coming up:

Besides our regular Learn to Classes, we have three new classes scheduled.

First up is an new class for our shop. It is a FREE Cro Hook class. Learn the basics of this technique using a double ended crochet hook and 2 highly contrasting worsted weight yarns. This class meets October 11 from 1-3 pm. Call us up to sign up.

Second up is our new hat class. Join Linda Jo for this fun color work class. Learn how to make a hat and how to work with two colors at the same time. Pick 2 colors of worsted weight yarn and get your needles moving on a beautiful hat just in time for Christmas. This class meets November 12,19, and26 from 1-3 pm. The cost is $35.00. Please note: there is homework to be completed prior to class. Call the shop to register for the class and get the pattern and homework instructions.

Finally, Linda Jo is offering her sock class again this fall. This class meets on Saturdays, October 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 1-3pm. The cost is $45.00. Learn how to make your very own hand knit socks and fall in love with them. (Making them and wearing them!) Sign up today.

Knit-n-Crochet: September Mystery knit club - Labor Day

The project for our September Mystery Knit Club is Thrummed Mittens. A thrum is a wisp of unspun fleece or roving that is knit into your project every so often. Thrumming makes the insides soft, fuzzy, and warm. Combining knitting yarn with a soft fiber makes for nice plump lightweight thrummed mittens that will keep your hands toasty warm this winter. Thrummed mittens also make lovely Christmas gifts.

We will be closed Monday, September 5th, for Labor Day. We hope you have a wonderful day as we too spend time with our families.

Knit-n-Crochet: A Day with the Shephard.

Please join us for “A Day with the Shepherd” event on Saturday, July 30th.

The shepherd, Francis Chester, will discuss the Cestari story of U.S.A. raised sheep, wool, and cotton. This trunk show features all the color ways and lovely kitted samples. Mr. Chester will be at the shop all day, with a special presentation from 11am - noon.

Please come on by the shop to visit with Mr. Chester and learn about the process behind the USA raise and manufactured wool and wool blend yarns.
