We had some amazing things arrive at the shop yesterday - wool trees and lucets! They’re made in the U.S. and are beautiful heirloom quality. Here is what Wool Tree Mill says about their business and products: “Our line of fiber arts tools is made entirely here in the United States using fine American hardwoods. Wool Tree Mill and every one of its affiliates are family-owned U.S. businesses. We sell wholesale to quality fiber arts shops in the U.S.”

So what are these wool trees used for? “A ball of yarn can be naughty. It will jump to the floor and play with the cat or tangle up everything in your yarn basket or tie itself in knots. The wool tree gently tames all that.”

All you have to do is place your ball of yarn onto the tree and set it on a table (or wherever you’re knitting or crocheting) and as you use the yarn, the tree will turn. No more balls of yarn jumping off the table or rolling across the floor!

We have both the lovely maple and beautiful walnut versions.

Some people dread making icords for their knitting projects. The lucet is a great tool to make cord making fun and easy or would also be a nice way to involve children in a project. The lucets come with easy to follow step by step instructions.

“A lucet is a tool used in cord making or braiding which is believed to date back to the Medieval period, when it was utilized to create cords that were used on clothing, or to hang useful items from the belt. Lucet cord is square, strong, and slightly springy. We have spent a lot of time experimenting with the optimum size and shape for our walnut lucet. You’ll use it for baby-booty laces, color-coordinated drawstrings, simple braided bracelets…”
